Elvira Bontempo
Elvira “Dolly” Bontempo of Rahway died Jan. 29 in Robert Wood
Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. Born in Newark, Mrs.
Bontempo lived in Rahway for the past 49 years. She was an
administrative assistant for the Rahway Board of Education for 20
years and retired in 1990. Mrs. Bontempo was a member of the Rahway
Italian American Club and a life member of the Deborah League of
Colonia and the St. Gerard Ladies Guild of St. Lucy’s Church,
Newark. She also was an accomplished pianist. Surviving are four
sons, Joseph, Michael, Richard and Edward; a daughter, Lisa Rose
McArdle; a sister, Louise Sica; a brother, Henry Bellomo, and nine
grandchildren. The Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, Rahway, handled
the arrangements.
Irene Gisondi
Irene Gisondi, 60, of Rahway died Jan. 28 in Trinitas Regional
Medical Center, Elizabeth. Born in East Orange, Mrs. Gisondi lived
in Elizabeth before moving to Rahway five years ago. She and her
husband of 37 years, Dominick, were the owners of the D&G Club,
Elizabeth, for 13 years. They then owned the Summer Street Grocery,
Elizabeth, for 11 years. Also surviving are a daughter, Frances
Gisondi; two sons, Giacomo and Edward; a brother, Frank Kurak; two
sisters, Maryann Lazarchik and Evelyn Zuppert, and seven
grandchildren. The Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, Linden, handled
the arrangements.
Marie Wilson
Marie Hunter Wilson, 79, of Rahway died Jan. 23 in Robert Wood
Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. Born in Newark, Mrs. Wilson
lived in Rahway for 25 years. Surviving are three sons, Robert and
Kevin Wilson and Clint Coleman, and two daughters, Beatrice and
Marie Wilson.
